Test selection and assignment preparation

What if I'm not sure which test I need?

Send us a brief description of the product, its intended use and the desired result. We will verify the appropriate test method, the necessary documents and the follow-up output. You do not need to know the exact designation of the standard in advance.

What information do you need for an initial assessment?

The type and purpose of the product, the basic dimensions and composition, the drawings, the method of anchoring, the required classification and your preferred timescale will help the most. If you do not know any data, we will complete the entry together.

What do we need to deliver and in how many pieces?

The number, dimensions and design of the samples are based on the relevant standard and the range to be covered by the result. We will confirm the exact specification before the sample is produced and shipped.

Can you test ceilings or horizontal structures?

Not yet. We test in a vertical fire-resistance furnace, i.e. on products and structures mounted in the vertical position. In the longer term we plan to extend the laboratory to horizontal elements as well.

Does it make sense to tackle EXAP and classification before the test?

Yes. It is advisable to assess the intended variants of the product even before the design of the sample. A representative configuration can then cover a larger part of the product line within the limits of the relevant rules.

Test progress

Date, visit and follow up

How long does the fire resistance test take?

The test itself normally takes 30 to 120 minutes, depending on the required durability it can last up to 300 minutes. To this must be added the time for preparation, assembly, possible conditioning and subsequent evaluation.

Do we have to attend the test in person, or can we watch it online?

Attending in person is not required, although customers commonly do come and we are glad to host you — just arrange it with us in advance. By agreement, the test can also be followed remotely via Microsoft Teams or another suitable solution; we set up the online link to suit the type of test and your needs. Either way, we confirm beforehand how the sample is handed over, who is responsible for the installation, and how we communicate during the test.

What should we bring to the lab?

Representative sample, agreed assembly elements and current technical documentation. You will receive a specific list, shipping method and assembly schedule before the deadline.

Where can we park, stay and eat?

Parking is possible right on the premises. See the site for a map, transportation, and lodging and dining tips Useful information.

After the test

Results, documents and confidentiality

What documents will we receive after the test?

The basic output is a test report. If EXAP is needed, it is processed before subsequent classification. Without EXAP, classification can be tied directly to test results.

What outputs does AFIRE prepare?

AFIRE issues test reports and, by assignment, Extended application of results (EXAP) reports and follow-up classification reports. We are preparing to expand our activities to include a certification body.

Can the test report be used abroad?

We test according to European standards in the scope of our accreditation and, for defined activities, also in the scope of notification. Specific applicability depends on the product, standard, target market and downstream process; we recommend checking it before the test.

Are our data and design solutions protected?

Yes. We consider the technical documentation, the course of the test and the results to be confidential information and treat them according to the rules of an accredited and impartial laboratory.

How can the authenticity of the issued test report be verified?

Send the test report number to afire@afire.cz. We will confirm the authenticity of the document by e-mail.
