Testing first, then usable results

Fire resistance and smoke control are tested characteristics. EXAP and classification are follow-on documents. If an EXAP is required, it is prepared after the test and before classification.

01 — Test

Fire resistance tests

We verify how long a building product or structure will retain the required properties under the influence of fire. We install the test specimen in the test frame, expose it to the prescribed temperature and pressure profile, and monitor and measure its behaviour the whole time.

What we observe during the test

Depending on the type of product, we mainly evaluate integrity, thermal insulation and radiation. We document the progress by measuring temperatures, visual recording and other methods required by the relevant standard.

02 — Test

Smoke control tests

We measure the air leakage through the closure joints at a specified pressure difference. The measured values ​​will show whether the product meets the requirements for smoke control performance.

Sa3, Sa4 and S200

Testing takes place according to the required classification of the product. Classes Sa3 and Sa4 refer to ambient temperature testing, class S200 also includes testing at elevated temperature. We will determine the specific class, configuration and pressure direction based on the product and intended use.

03 — Follow-on document

Extended application of results — EXAP

Under the conditions of the relevant standard, EXAP permits the test result to be extended to other product variants. For example, it could be different dimensions, composition, fittings or arrangement of the assembly.

This is not a single standard, but entire series of extended-application standards. The ČSN EN 15269, ČSN EN 15254 and ČSN EN 15882 series are used for individual product groups.

We recommend that you consider the extension options before the test. A properly chosen representative test specimen can cover a larger part of the product line and reduce the need for additional testing.

04 — Follow-on document

Classification of products

Based on the test results and possible EXAP, we will prepare a classification report and assign the corresponding class to the product, for example EI 30, EW 60, Sa3, Sa4 or S200. The scope of the classification is based on the tested design, the rules of direct application of the results and possible extended application.

The classification report is a technical document that can serve as one of the supporting documents for subsequent assessment in the certification process. We are preparing to expand our activities to include a certification body.

What products can we test for you?

We most often deal with doors and gates, partitions and walls, glass structures, fire shutters, penetrations and sealing, switchboards, safes and other products intended for testing in a vertical position. If you are not sure whether your product falls under our scope, please send us a brief description of it.

What to send us for the first assessment

Usually, the type and purpose of the product, the basic dimensions and composition, the required classification (if you know it), available drawings or technical documents and your preferred timescale are sufficient. If you do not know all the details, it doesn't matter — we'll complete the entry together.

Equipment that can handle demanding tests

Furnace tests can last up to 300 minutes and up to 200 thermocouples can be connected simultaneously. Also available is a thermal imager, a 12 t overhead crane and a GS-2646 scissor lift.

What you can get from us

Depending on the assignment, we will prepare a test report. If an EXAP is needed for a given product, we process it before classification; a classification report can then be prepared. We are preparing to expand our activities to include a certification body.

At the beginning, we clarify what you need the result for. We will design the test accordingly and tell you whether it will be directly followed by classification or EXAP first and then classification.
