Vertical smoke control test chamber

The chamber is intended for testing smoke control closures according to the standard ČSN EN 1634-3. It allows accurate measurement of air flow through leaks at specified pressures and temperatures. In addition, we can use artificial smoke as a development aid. It graphically shows critical points that the manufacturer can adjust before the next test. This additional visualisation does not replace the standard measurement.

Because its external dimensions are identical to those of the vertical fire-resistance furnace, the same product can be tested for smoke control performance and then moved in its frame directly to the furnace for fire-resistance testing. According to the specification, several products can be installed in one frame, for example three doors, and the entire assembly can undergo both tests in turn.

Main parameters and equipment

Chamber capabilities

  • smoke control tests according to the standard ČSN EN 1634-3,
  • a test frame with dimensions (5.0 x 3.5) m (W x H), identical to the vertical furnace frame; depth of test chamber 0.76 m,
  • the possibility of subsequent testing of the same product for fire resistance without reassembly into the test frame,
  • option to fit into one frame more products and according to the selected programme, they are tested for smoke control performance and fire resistance,
  • automated control during the test and recording of pressure and temperature parameters,
  • equipment and measuring technology corresponding to the requirements of European test standards.
